With tears in our eyes, we announce the death of Bob Alexander, aged 77, on November 21st 2024. Bob was the beloved husband of Linda Alexander (née Gregory) for 54 years, loving father to Todd Alexander (Klaudia Dmitrienko) and Laura Alexander (Cameron Dryburgh), and cherished Grandpa (or sometimes Grumpa) to Anya, Marion, Will and Jack.
A loving husband and father, Bob’s commitment to his family permeated his life. Though he wasn’t known for outward displays of emotion, those close to him were aware of his huge heart. Whether coaching, cheering on his kids and grandkids at sporting events, or horsing around in the pool or on the beach, Bob found great joy in the family he and Linda shared.
Bob loved sports, the outdoors, and his dogs -Cleo, Rosebud, Mattie and his grand dogs Sasha and Kodi. An avid golfer, he spent his post-retirement years pursuing this game of life in Florida and back home. He also enjoyed downhill skiing, a sport that enabled him to combine time with family while outdoors in the mountains.
His memory will be cherished by his family, friends and those whose lives he touched. Bob fought a four-year battle with lung cancer, and although he eventually succumbed to the disease, we are forever grateful for that extra time we had with him -time filled with rounds of golf, long dinners, lots of laughs, and a few extra beers.
A funeral service to honour Bob’s life will be held at St. Bride’s Anglican Church, 1516 Clarkson Rd. North, Mississauga, on Tuesday, November 26th, at 11 am, followed by a reception at the church. His remains will be interned at Springcreek Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests any donations be made to the Cancer Research Society, in his memory.
