In Celebration of

Robert Edward Boak Burns

September 26, 1933 -  October 5, 2021

Burns, Robert Edward Boak

It is with sadness that we share the news of our father’s passing, Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the Village of Erin Meadows, at the age of 88. Beloved husband of the late Mildred (nee Melenchuk) for 59 years. Loving father of Kenneth (Beth) of New Brunswick, and Karen (Gary) of Ontario. Cherished Grampa of Scott (Laura), Brian (Molly), Kylee, and Kristen. Much adored Great Grampa of Elle.

Bob enjoyed working over thirty years in several positions with the provincial government.

Bob (Boak) started curling at the age of 16 at the Welland Curling Club. He continued on his love of curling with Milly where they shared over thirty years of curling at the Boulevard Club in Toronto.

Bob was very active in the Boy Scouts of Canada, where he was a Boy Scout leader for ten years.

Bob will be best remembered for his love of the cottage, with almost 40 years on the Severn River. “Bobbo” (…he was well known for being called Bobbo at the cottage) spent every summer there enjoying his family and grandchildren, along with many friends. Bob was always willing to lend a hand whenever needed.

We hope to celebrate Dad’s life with family and friends at a later date.

For those who wish, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Society or Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers. Online condolences may be made through www.turnerporter.ca

Dear Karen, Ken and families,
I have so many wonderful memories of Bob at the cottage and at many, many family celebrations. I will cherish these always. Your Dad was warm, kind, always ready for fun and always a perfect gentleman! We know how much he will be missed and hope that you find comfort in knowing that he is at peace now and together again with Milly.
Sincerely, Don and Chris XX

Remembering all the teasing that I put up with as we grew up together, I will miss you.

I have fond memories of curling against Boak at the Boulevard Club.. When there was no longer Curling there I still enjoyed the annual “Mr. . Boulevard” dinners which we both attended for a number of years. A gentleman on and off the ice

My condolences to the family

Our thoughts go out to you Karen, Gary and your families. It is difficult loosing both parents in such a short time. Don and I have so many wonderful memories that our two families shared together on Coulter Bay, many dinners, boatrides, cards, dropping trees and many many more. Bob and Millie were always there to greet us when we arrived at the cottage. Beautiful people.
Hugs Barb & Don
