In Celebration of
Robert "Bob" Wolfe
May 30, 1935 -
November 12, 2019
With sadness we announce Bob passed away Tuesday in Etobicoke following closely behind his beloved wife Trudy who left us in September. Trudy and Bob were married for 62 of his 84 years and personified the words “to love and to cherish, till death do us part.”
Bob was a loving father to Robert, Julie Ann (Michael) and David. Wonderful grandfather to Carl (Carrie), Alan (Ewa), Elizabeth and Jonathan and great-grandfather to Aniela, Colton, Cody, Kasper and Cassidee. Dear brother-in-law of Alfred (d.2016) and Norma Chink and affectionate Godfather and uncle to many.
Bob was an adopted son of Hazel Wolfe and George Greenwood and brother to Ernest Greenwood (Agnes) of Gravenhurst and Joyce McKibbon (Robert) of Picton – all having passed before him.
Over 3 decades Bob advanced his career at The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company (later Manulife) and later as an independent financial and insurance agent for Lutheran Life (later FaithLife Financial).
An avid golfer and longtime member of the Board of Trade Golf & Country Club in Woodbridge, Bob never let little things such as ‘winter’ keep him from the links – he continued golfing into the 2019 golf season with his son David. Very personable, Bob was never too busy to enjoy a good chat with any one. With a glint in his eye and adventure in his soul, Bob appreciated all that life offered and most enjoyed time spent with his family and good friends.
Challenged with cancer and advancing dementia since 2011, Bob spent most of his days in the care of women. So, he looked forward to Monday afternoons and companionship visits by community volunteer Eugene. They became good friends and Bob appreciated their outings, walking in parks, grabbing a coffee or going for a drive into farm country Bob’s youthful stomping ground “Schomberg!”
The family appreciates the help of family friend Bernie, thanks Samantha Pinto and the palliative team at Mississauga Halton LHIN, and has a debt of gratitude to the caregivers who came and lived-in with Bob and Trudy to assure their care over 5 years – ‘angels’ Gemma, Nishu, Gigi, Tina, Ruth, Elvira, Beth, Remy, Vishia & Angeli… To gentle care workers Jane and Debbie… And, to our dear Jocelyn who administered comfort and love to Bob through his last days.
Bob and the Wolfe family thank Dr. Jonathan Wilson and the oncology team at Humber River Hospital for 8 years’ effort, and Dr. Louie Mavrogiannis and staff from The Dorothy Ley Hospice for their compassionate at-home care since 2016.
Friends may call at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., Toronto from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Friday November 15. Visitation also 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday November 16, immediately followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel. Private interment will take place.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Dorothy Ley Hospice or a charity you love.
