To Andrew, Paul and Melissa and the Martin family:
I read with great sadness the passing of your dad in the Star this morning. The memories are flowing! He was a fabulous history teacher. His insight, drive, direction, and determination to make "his students" learn the facts was always done with such enthusiasm and compassion for the subject.
Your dad helped me to see obstacles in his classroom, my personal and professional life as well with a "look beyond" the issues. His guidance and genuine concern was always appreciated.
I'd occasionally run into your dad at antique sales. We'd go have a coffee and talk about your mom and "you guys" mostly. He always spoke proudly of all of you.
I could write so much more - suffice it to say my life long respect for "Mr. Martin" - teacher, colleague, friend - lasts and continues. I am so thankful to God that our paths met.
My deepest condolences and sympathy to each of you.
Rob Burnet
On behalf of my mom Raymonde, my sister Marjorie, and my brother François, we would like to offer our sincere condoleances to Melissa, Paul, and Andrew, as well as the family for the loss of Mr. Martin. Our prayers and thoughts are with you in this difficult time. With all our love, Janique.
Mr.Martin,
I have never forgotten how you showed us all, on how history was so important .
Thank You Sir
Sending special thoughts and my prayers your way as you remember your father, Andrew, Paul and Melissa. He was a complex person, as we know. I do believe he wanted nothing but the very best for all of you. I think of him as a very fine History teacher at BCI, and an encouragement to me as a person and student. I've posted this news on the BCI alumni Facebook site and warm remembrances of him as an excellent teacher are being posted.
My thoughts and prayers are with his three children.
