In Celebration of

Robert "Bob" "Rabbie" Hugh Baxter

July 16, 1931 -  January 4, 2021

Passed away after a lengthy illness in Mississauga, with his loving family by his side, in his 90th year. Loving husband of Carol (née Platt), who cared devotedly for Bob in his final weeks. Beloved father of Douglas, Patti and the late Jonathan (1993). Cherished “Mega” grandfather of Matthew and Brooke Wowchuk. Rabbie will be especially missed by his siblings in Ireland - Ina (Hugh) Craig, Ria (Lauritz) Mackness, the late Isabelle (the late Andy) Greenlees, and the late Tommy (the late Doris). Bob will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews in Canada and the UK. Very special thanks to Martin, Rich and Cindy for their love and support.

Born to parents Thomas and Ina (née Close) Baxter in Larne (County Antrim), Northern Ireland. Bob graduated from Larne Grammar School earning a scholarship to attend Queens University (Belfast) where he graduated with a B.Sc. (Chemistry). After university he spent 5 years in Bahrain and Visakhapatnam (India) working as a chemist with Caltex Oil Refinery Ltd. He then travelled and explored numerous countries, eventually landing in Canada where he started working for CIL Ltd. (plastics division) in Montreal followed by Toronto. Highly respected in his industry, he continued on when the division was bought by AT Plastics. After a dedicated career, Bob retired and enjoyed his leisure years golfing, reading, gardening with a passion for roses, working on the cottage, volunteering at Trillium Health Partners, enjoying and doting over his loving grandchildren and two spoiled dogs (Joey and Baillie). Bob was an honest and principled man dedicated to his family and was happiest when they were all gathered around together. Special thanks to the Palliative Care Team of Credit Valley Hospital and Peel Region LHIN.

COVID Restrictions apply. Private family Service to be held at Turner and Porter “Peel Chapel”, Mississauga, on Friday, January 8, 2021. Private Interment to follow at Springcreek Cemetery.
