In Celebration of

Robert Alex Warwick Seysmith

October 19, 1932 -  April 26, 2021

Robert passed away peacefully at Toronto Western Hospital on Monday, April 26, 2021 in his 89th year, after a brief illness. He is predeceased by his brother Edward Michael Seysmith (d. 2019) and parents, Joseph Alexander (Alex) and Violet (n. Whitton).

Robert was a gentle and kind man who enjoyed writing, philosophy, politics and spending time with family. Born and raised in west Toronto, Robert enjoyed travelling by rail to a family farm in Campbellford in his youth, which instilled a lifelong interest in trains, horses and family geneology. Later, Robert worked at the Globe and Mail and with the provincial government, while further exploring his writing and artistic interests on the side.

He will be dearly missed by his sister-in-law Teresa, his nieces Carole (Rick) and Lara (Will, d.) great-nieces Jessica, Casey, Meagan and Hailey, and by his friends and extended family, including the Rowan and MacDonald families who have been an important part of family events and celebrations with Robert over the years.

Robert's family extends sincere thanks to the staff and neighbours at St Clair O’Connor Community where he lived independently for over 10 years, and to his family doctor and medical team at Toronto Western Hospital.

A private family service will be held at Park Lawn Cemetery in Toronto on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.

If desired, donations in Robert’s name can be made to a charity of choice.

Robert was quiet and peaceful. Always interested and interesting. Loved to always see him at the family gatherings that always included him.
I first met Robert when we were both in the wedding party of his brother over 55 years ago . RIP Robert.

I am so sorry to hear of Robert's passing. Indeed he was a lovely man, I was his neighbour and often left treats at his door. He use to go ever day dressed in shirt and over coat, looking so fine. I admired him for living each day. I will miss him. Please accept my condolences for your loss.
