In Celebration of

Richard Henry Ruebusch

December 1, 1933 -  May 8, 2024

Our beloved Father Richard “Rick” Ruebusch passed away the evening of May 8, 2024, at 90 years old and was the Patriarch of the Family. Husband of 68 years to Jeannine, Father to Rick (Debbie, predeceased 2023), Susan (Steve), Denise (Ken), and Pamela (Henry). Grandfather to Yvonne (James), Vanessa (Mitch), Rachel (Brandon), Sarah (Andrew), Mitchell, Caroline, and Victoria. Great Grandfather to Amira, Moraine, Kettering, Ellis, and Arthur. Brother to Ruth Ann and Hazel (Bob, both predeceased). Favourite Uncle to many on both sides of the family in Canada and the USA. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1933 and grew up in a German neighborhood where he attended St. Augustine’s Catholic School. When he was a young man he joined the US Air Force and became a flight instrument specialist and stationed at Presque Isle Maine. It was here he met our Mother Jeannine, and they married in Campbellton, New Brunswick in June 1956. He moved his family to Canada in 1964 where he made his career and was well known as a leader in the Transportation industry throughout North America. He was larger than life and had so much charisma. He loved making connections with people, and he loved entertaining and being with his family especially our annual Boxing Day parties with the entire family. This was a tradition! He will be missed greatly by his family and friends and all of those who's lives he touched.

Family and friends will be received at Turner & Porter Butler Chapel (4933 Dundas St W, Etobicoke, ON M9A 1B6) on Tuesday, May 14th from 4-8 pm.

Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church (3055 Bloor St. W, Etobicoke, ON M8X 1C6) on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 11 am. Online condolences may be made through www.turnerporter.ca

Much of my childhood was spent with The Ruebusch’s. ‘The Rube’ and my dad were best buddies for as long as I can remember back in Barrie.
My deepest sincere condolences to the family.
Your dad always made me giggle when I was a little girl. I remember some his famous lines.
Sending hugs and much love from the Tomes family. 🙏❤️

My uncle was a legend. Our families have wonderful memories of so many gatherings. I will never forget him and I feel blessed that he was my uncle. I'm sure he's up in heaven telling some stories. What a sight to behold!

We knew Rick and Jeannine in Barrie. I worked for him for a few years in the trucking industry. Both as boss and father-in-law of my sister Debbie, he was resourceful, pleasant and fun to be with. We always kept in touch, and he was always interested.
Our condolences to Jeannine, Rick Jr., Susan, Denise, Pamela and their families. We have many fond memories. Love Paul, Dianne & family.

I will remember my Uncle Rick with a deep appreciation for his great passion and generosity. In the tapestry of our family life, he was a golden thread, a root thread reflected in his strong devotion to bringing the family together. He was a scintillating and generous spirit who infused life’s experiences with optimism and enthusiasm. As the ‘paterfamilias’, he created so many moments for our family and the celebration and nurturing of our relationships. I will always carry the memories of the many times I shared with him and with our family - the echoes of the sparkle in his eye, his bountiful presence, his quick wit and his capacity to see the potential and possibility in life and in others. May his spirit live on in each of the living threads of our family tapestry. We will hold him in our hearts always.
