June 11, 2024
We celebrate the life of Richard "Rick" Albert Britton, who passed away on June 11, 2024, at the age of 66, after bravely battling cancer. Rick was born on August 8, 1957, and lived a life full of passion, dedication, and love.
Rick will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Deborah, his children David (Kristen), Amanda (Martin), and Melissa (Adam), and his treasured grandchildren, Thomas and Lily, who lovingly knew him as "Poppy." He also leaves behind his sister Kimberley, her husband Rob, and nephews Trevor and Kale; and cherished memories of his pre-deceased brother Kerry and his wife Tara. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Credit Valley Hospital for their exceptional attention and care during this difficult time.
Rick's expertise as a guitar technician graced the performances of iconic artists like Burton Cummings, Steve Lukather, Bon Jovi, Shakira, Scorpions, Toto, Rush, U2, and The Barenaked Ladies, among others. His travels around the world brought him joy as he shared his talents and love for playing guitar. Before his illustrious career in music, Rick was trained as an electrician. He took great pride in his contracting work and personal projects at home, leaving behind a legacy of craftsmanship and dedication. A talented cook, Rick delighted in preparing authentic Asian dishes and using ingredients from his home garden. His culinary skills and love for cooking brought joy to family and friends alike.
In accordance with his wishes, Rick will be cremated, with a small private service held to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, Rick's request was that donations be made to CNIB Foundation to support CNIB Guide Dogs.
Though he may have left this world, Rick's spirit lives on through the melodies he crafted and the love he shared with those fortunate enough to have known him.
