In Celebration of

Richard A. Jennings

February 18, 1920 -  November 9, 2019

A World War II veteran passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 9, 2019 in his 100th year at Bough Beeches retirement home with his family by his side. Predeceased by his loving wife Edna (Gray), his sister Sybil, and his daughter Elizabeth Mary McQuade, he will be greatly missed by his son, Richard Frederick and his wife Diane, his son-in-law Richard McQuade, and his beloved grandchildren Brett, Kara, Luke (Agata), Katherine McQuade (Dariusz), and Joseph McQuade (Emily). Richard was born on February 18, 1920 in Cookley, Worcester, England to Elijah and Florence (Maddox). After a pleasant childhood and school days spent in a small English village, he enlisted in the Royal Air Force as soon as he turned 18. During the Second World War he was sent overseas in 1941 on a journey that took him to South Africa, Ceylon, Singapore, Burma and India, not returning to England until near the end of the War. In 1947, he immigrated to Toronto initially working as a draughtsman for Ontario Hydro. Shortly after arriving he met Edna Gray, the love of his life, at a YMCA dance. They married in 1950 and moved to Windsor, Ontario where he worked for the Ford Motor Company as a tool and die designer for 17 years. His first child daughter Elizabeth was born in 1952 followed three years later by his son Richard. The family later moved to Mississauga where he worked for several companies including McDonnell Douglas, Atomic Energy of Canada, and Long Manufacturing. He was a longtime, active parishioner at St Luke’s Anglican Church in Mississauga. Special thanks to the staff of Bough Beeches and the LHIN for their care.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10 N. of Q.E.W) on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 from 12 noon until time of the service in the Chapel at 1 p.m.
