In Celebration of

R. Michael (Mike) Shickluna

September 20, 1945 -  June 25, 2024

After a courageous 12 year battle with cancer, Mike passed away peacefully with loving family by his side at Ian Anderson House, Oakville, on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at the age of 78. Best friend and adoring husband of Barbara for 55 years. Loving father of Brian (Chelsea) and Eric (Meghan). Proud granddad to Michael, John and Eleanor.

Mike was predeceased by his parents Edward and Annette, brothers Chuck and Glenn, nephews David and Paul, and niece Christine.

He leaves behind many fond memories with his brother-in-law Bob (Jude) and nieces and nephew Jenn, Kari, Derek.

Mike was a lifelong gardener with a passion for growing the perfect tomato. A loving husband, father, and proud granddad who treasured his family beyond everything else.

He will always be remembered for his wicked sense of humour and countless shared memories with friends.

Cremation has taken place and a family service will be held at a later date. For those who wish, donations in memory of Mike to Ian Anderson House would be appreciated by the family.

Love

Love works
in ways
That are wondrous
and strange
And there's nothing
in life
That love
Cannot change

So sorry to hear of Mike's passing. Will keep Barb and all Mike's family in our prayers.

Mr. Shickluna (Mike) was, for the most, a quiet man around me, but like the family said, he had a wicked sense of humour that would surface in great moments.
He and Mrs. Shickluna (Barb) were like second parents to me during highschool and beyond; always welcoming me into their home and cottage.... providing me with some of my fondest memories growing up.
Although I hadn't seen Mike in several years, he will forever be present in my mind and heart.
Thank you and all my love to the family,
Brian Rice

Mike was a wonderful, “steady-as-she-goes” kind of a guy. He was a solid rock in his family and will be missed. I was there at the beginning on the day Barb and Mike were married. It was a beautiful day.

Dear Shickluna family,
Sean and I were very sad to hear of Mike's death but I know it has been a very long haul of illness. He was a quiet, unobtrusive man with a funny sense of humour and a taste for heavy metal music, I seem to remember!
Much love and hugs to you all!
xx Sean and Marg

Mike was an incredible guy. His dry wit kept you on your toes! He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. Thanks for the memories Mike!
