In Celebration of

Ramiro Faria Pacheco

September 3, 1932 -  May 21, 2021

Ramiro peacefully passed away on May 21, 2021 after fighting a hard and tough battle with Alzheimer's disease. He leaves behind a loving wife, Maria Eugenia, 2 sons, Valdemar and Elio, a deeply devoted daughter, Maria da Luz, a loving and caring daughter in-law, Lidia, 5 grand children and 1 great grand child.

Born in Ribeira Grande, Azores in 1932 to doting parents, Jose and Adilia, he graduated from High School and studied business before marrying his wife, Maria Eugenia and opening a General Store in Nordeste, Azores where he started his family.

He endured the death of 2 sons, both named Antonio (the second child and the fifth child) who both passed away within a month of their birth. In 1967, he took the courageous decision to emigrate to Toronto, Canada to ensure a better life for his family, temporarily leaving them behind in the Azores. Not knowing the English language, and having to adapt to the harsh climate and a strange new society, he first worked on a mushroom farm, and thus was able to send back remittance payments to his family to ensure their survival. On December 11, 1971, over three years later, he was reunited with his family in Toronto.

Ramiro was a deeply religious man. A man of great courage, and a man with an even greater sense of responsibility to provide for his family. He was always loyal and devoted to his responsibilities both as a husband and as a father.

We thank you Dad for all your sacrifices and all that you have done for us to ensure that your wife, children, grand children and great grand children have a better life. Your legacy lives on.

We love you deeply and may your soul rest in peace “querido paizinho”.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
