It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rafik Mutlak, who left us peacefully on March 14, 2025, at his family home in Mississauga, surrounded by those he loved most. He was 84 years old.
Born on April 14, 1940, Rafik’s life was marked by dedication, love, and selflessness. He graduated from Utah State University in 1970 with a degree in Civil Engineering a milestone that reflected his hard work and determination.
In 1976, he married the love of his life, Rosette Diab. Together, they built a beautiful life and family, welcoming their sons, Fadi and Ramy. In 1982, Rafik made the courageous decision to move his family to Canada, where they eventually settled and thrived.
Rafik was no ordinary man. His life was devoted to providing for his family, ensuring their happiness and well-being, and always putting their needs before his own. He was a man of simple joys, finding his greatest happiness in the company of his loved ones, reading, watching sports (hockey and soccer) and mastering the grill as the undisputed king of the BBQ.
His kindness, generosity, and unwavering support touched the lives of all who knew him. Rafik led by example, teaching his children the values of integrity, perseverance, and compassion, shaping them into the individuals they are today. His presence brought comfort, his laughter filled every room, and his love knew no bounds.
Rafik is survived by his beloved wife Rosette, his sons Fadi and Ramy, his daughters-in-law Jessy and Sandy, and his cherished grandchildren Adrianna, Raphael, James, and Alexander.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unforgettable memories that will be held close in the hearts of those who knew him. Though he is no longer with us in person, his spirit remains ever-present. His love, wisdom, and the countless memories he gifted us will never fade.
“Those we love don’t go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed, and very dear.”
Rafik may have left this world in silence, but his legacy speaks volumes. His smile, his kindness, and the profound impact he made will live on in the hearts of those blessed to know him. We miss him deeply but find comfort in knowing he is still watching over us just as he always did.
