It is with profound sadness that we announce the quiet and peaceful passing of Peter Winkels at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital.

Peter was born in Lank-Latum, Germany, just as WWII ended. He arrived in Canada in 1957 with his parents, Willi and Sofie Winkels, and his six younger siblings. He happily adapted to his new surroundings, first in Ontario and eventually in Nova Scotia.

Peter was the loving husband of Ann Corkum for over 35 years and will also be missed by her sons Seymour and Luke Kenney, and her three grandchildren. He was predeceased by Ann’s daughter, Candace, and his brothers Albert (Patti Wadland) and Willi (Judy). He is survived by his brothers John (Carol) and Fritz (Mary Louise), his sisters Elizabeth Hoefkes (Heiner) and Helen Orsino, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at St. Ignatius Loyola Church, 2300 Burnhamthorpe Road West, Mississauga, Ontario.
