In Celebration of

Peter Thompson

January 23, 1954 -  June 8, 2020

Peter Michael Thompson passed away peacefully after a short and courageous battle with cancer.

Peter has often been referred to as the mayor of Port Credit and was awarded the best bartender of the year in Toronto for his work at the Canadiana. He is known and loved by so many including Stephen and his Great Dane Odin.

He was a caring brother to Marnie (Steve) Carol (John) and Paul (Susan). He was a loving uncle to Melanie (Jojo) Robyn (Dennis) Andrew and Natalie and Gavin. He was also a great uncle to Jackson, Jacob, Myles, and Jonah.

Although our hearts are heavy, we will continue to carry his memory and celebrate his life at the appropriate time in the future. In the meantime raise a beer in his honour.

For those who wish donations in Peter’s Memory may be made to Trillium Health Partners foundation or the charity of your choice.

We will all miss Peter's energetic and positive disposition around the Canadiana. A great Host and Ambassador of the Canadiana and greeted every patron as a friend.

I don’t know where to start. I’m so sorry to hear this sad news. I have so many wonderful memories and stories of my friend and favourite bartender Peter. Shortly after moving to Ontario my co-workers took me to the Canadianna to meet Peter. It was love at first sight for me and I think for him too. His sense of humour was just the best. There was nothing he could say to me that was off base. Everything he said was hilarious. My Mum and I still talk about how much my Dad enjoyed Peter’s sense of humour. When they visited from B.C. my Dad was more interested in getting to the Canadianna to see Peter than anything else. I often tell friends the stories of my interactions with Peter and they always initiate laughter. He was the reason I had my retirement party at the Canadianna. I wanted to be sure he would be there. He was one of a kind and I thank him for years of laughter, stories, kindness, love and cocktails. My sincere sympathy to his family and friends.
