Surrounded by the love of his family, it is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Percy Albert Elliott on Thursday May 1, 2025, at the age of 87 after fighting several infections.
Percy is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jeanette, children Holly (Edward) and Paul (Shari); beloved grandchildren Madelaine and Cameron (Denise); and great-granddaughter Olivia.
Percy will be welcomed to heaven by his parents Albert and Elaine, his sisters Nova (James), Patsy (Vincent), niece Dawn and nephews Neal and Perri. He is survived by his brother John, many family and friends.
Percy was born on October 22, 1937, at the Mont Hamilton Hospital at 4pm and went home to 75 Newlands Ave. He and the family lived there for several years until the property was bought up for development. Then he moved to 48 Tuxedo Ave where he lived until he married Jeanette on September 24, 1960.
Percy had many jobs and careers starting from his youth so he could buy a bicycle and then a car. He was a kind; gregarious individual that made people feel at ease and did well as a salesperson. Through his careers in funeral direction & embalming, pharmaceuticals, medical textbooks, Music Media and Medical Supply Store he was very successful.
Percy was a volunteer at Trillium – Mississauga Site for 15 years. Volunteering at the hospital in the emergency department was very rewarding for him and continues to have friends who he would meet when he was in the emergency department. Percy was the President of the Volunteer Association from 2007 to 2009.
Music was a huge part of Percy’s life starting in his youth when he joined the Hamilton Little Symphony. He sang in the church choir. He played many instruments and even in adulthood he played the bagpipes in a pipe and drum corps with the Shriners.
The family would like to extend they’re thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at Trillium Health Partners – Credit Valley Site for the care and support that we all received.
In memory of Percy, donations can be made to the Trillium Health Foundation.
