In Celebration of

Penelope Elizabeth (Betty) Reece

1931-2018

Passed away after a short battle with cancer. She will be sadly missed by daughters Kathleen, Karen, son Timothy (Lucia), granddaughters Krista, Karlee, grandson William and his mother Beth. Pre-deceased by her husband of 51 years, Clare Jamieson, who always wanted to marry a redhead. He did, as she dyed her hair as a surprise for the wedding. Known for being able to move a car from one side of the garage to the other without opening the doors and being the BEST folder of laundry. She said all she wanted for Christmas was her family to be with her (and meant it). Betty was a talented folk artist, both painting and rugs, prolific reader of "Nurse Betty" books and an okay cook, as her understanding of recipe ingredients was creative.

Special thanks goes to the many exceptional caregivers at the Cooksville Care Center who showed such compassion and generosity.

At Betty's request, there will be a private family service in the Spring with interment in Windsor. In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting your local arts organization.

After moving back to the Soo from southern Ontario, Betty was a neighbour of ours for 6 years. Our dogs enjoyed lying on her porch while she visited with us and gave us much wisdom over the years. She will be deeply missed. Sincere condolences to Kathy, her siblings and extended family.

Kathy, Karen and Tim: I was very sorry to learn of your Mom’s passing. We shared lots of good times at Virgin Lake and other adventures like garden tours and craft shows. Is was always fun to spend time with her. Her talent with fibres was very special and I now have the beautiful bell pull that she made for my Mom. It’s a lovely reminder of two special women. Sincere sympathy to you and your family.

Suzanne Perry.
