In Celebration of

Pauline Duplak

December 1, 1921 -  August 1, 2022

In her 101st year, our mother Pauline Duplak passed away peacefully with her sons at her side, on Monday August 1, 2022. Pauline was predeceased by her husband Stefan and her sister Julia.

Beloved mother of Stephen (Donna) and William (Debra) and cherished baba of Kaitlyn and Austin.

Born in Malkovice, Poland on December 1, 1921, Pauline emigrated to Canada in 1948 with her husband Stefan and eventually started a new life in the Toronto area. After a few years, they moved to the then Borough of Swansea where they become the proud owners of Swansea Grocery, remaining in the business for close to 25 years.

During the summer months Pauline enjoyed spending weekends with family at the cottage on Lake Simcoe where she loved to garden and host many friends.

Whether at the cottage or at home in Toronto, mom enjoyed nothing more than an evening of cards or bingo. Mom enjoyed cooking and baking and was a talented painter of Ukrainian Easter Eggs (Pysanky).
Our mother loved family above all else. We love you mom. We will miss you and you will remain in our hearts forever.

The family will receive friends at Turner and Porter, Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West on Monday August 8, from 5 to 8pm. Panachyda at 7:30. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday August 9 at 10:00am at Ukrainian Church of the Holy Protection, 30 Leeds Ave. Toronto. Internment to follow at Park Lawn Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Ivan Franko (Royal York) for their outstanding care and support for our mother in her last years. In lieu of flowers a donation to Ivan Franko Home (Royal York) would be appreciated.

Steve and Donna…
Your mum had a warm and wonderful and welcoming smile. I will remember our conversations as well as the cabbage rolls she lovingly prepared and served at Christmas Day dinners.

I had the privilege to know Mrs Duplak as I was friends with Steve and Bill. How I remember the wonderful meals at the Duplak home and the way Mrs Duplak always made me feel part of the family.

Both Steve and Bill are fine men. This is, in no small measure, because of their parents.
May she Rest In Peace.

I will always remember Mrs. Duplak as a resilient lady, very devoted to family, a great cook, and talented painter of Easter eggs. I knew her for several decades and was blessed with the opportunity to celebrate countless Christmases, Easters, and many other special occasions with her. I saw first hand her devotion to her sons and their families ... definitely someone who gave her all to her family. The Sobiesiak household will continue to remember Mrs. Duplak in our prayers.
