We are profoundly sad to announce the peaceful passing of Paul Thomas Estlick at St. Joseph’s hospital, in the late afternoon on the 11th of January 2022.

My dad was the loving and ever reliable anchor that quietly supported and gave guidance to our entire family.

Devoted husband to the love of his life, Clare, the greatest father to Karyn and her husband Jim (Noble), Tricia and her husband Frank (Iaccino), loving grandfather to Jason and his wife Alisha (Noble), and delighted great grandfather to Victoria and Charlotte Noble.

All of us remember dad as an amazingly kind man who was there for anyone who needed him, with love and compassion in his heart.

Paul Thomas Estlick was born in Mishawaka, Indiana to Earnest and Dorothy Estlick, who welcomed dad into the beautiful afterlife along with his brother, Jack Estlick (Virginia), and his sisters; Betty Estlick Gertley (Art), and Peggy Estlick Klein (Don). Dad is survived by his youngest sister Janet Estlick Sollitt (Don).

After Paul completed 4 years in the American Army, he went to Queens University and became a mechanical engineer. It was at Queens where he met and then married his beloved wife Clare, who he nicknamed “Dutch” because of her beautiful face and blonde hair.

Dad had a fantastic career in engineering, working for Alcan, The Canadian Welding Bureau, and after retirement, helping mom with her illustrious real estate business. He helped and supported mom’s career in any way possible.

My father was a wonderful and talented athlete. He loved golf, tennis, curling, skiing, skating… and in his senior high school days he was the table tennis (ping pong) champion of Peterborough.

Fittingly, the perfect analogy of dad is sports related. I remember as a very young child of 3 my father would take me to Humber Valley rink to skate. As I hesitantly shuffled on the ice on my bob skates, my father would skate up quickly from behind and hold me in his strong, loving and capable arms. He would skate so fast and proficiently. I always felt so loved and protected.

This describes my dad perfectly.

He was the strong, quiet, capable, kind, loving and happy man who always had our backs, and made our world a much better place. Everyone who had the pleasure of meeting dad was better for knowing him. He was always in good humour and unfailingly kind. Dad had an infectious laugh and an engaging smile.

Dad, you will be missed by so many people, especially by your family who all loved and respected you so much.

Love you to the moon and back, always and forever.
