In Celebration of

Paul Legg

March 30, 1943 -  July 22, 2019

It is with the utmost regret that we announce the unexpected passing of our father, Paul Earl Legg, on July 22, 2019 in Mississauga, Ontario. Paul was born March 30, 1943 to Earl and Edith Legg. Paul is deeply loved by his surviving siblings; Pam Rigsby (Alex), Sandra Fitzpatrick (Tom), and Birdeena Cameron (Clayton).

While his aspirations were initially to become a “fluoride pusher” - a phrase he coined himself- he followed in the footsteps of his father and found his true calling in printing and graphic design. Paul took great pride in his work and had a profound talent in transforming the mundane to the extraordinary. Those who had the pleasure of working with him had not only a remarkable boss but a true friend. Paul treated his employees as though they were family. Paul, alongside his partners, upheld the Legg Brothers legacy valiantly and would have made their fathers extremely proud.

In addition to Paul’s professional life, he was the proud father of Karen (Jeff), Kelly, Paul Jr. (Caitlin), and his beloved golden retriever, Walker. The love he had for his children and their love for their father could not, and cannot be quantified. Paul’s calm, gentle, and loving demeanour will never be forgotten, and always missed, his absence will forever leave a void incapable of being fulfilled. He was the first call in times of distress, and the compass his children often needed to guide them through life. He will be deeply missed.

After retirement, Paul focused on his children and his best pal, Walker. He found great companionship and joy in the relationships he built and the community at the lakeside dog park. Our father was a social butterfly who magnetized those around him. It didn’t take long for Dad to have a ‘morning crew’. Each morning he got up and looked forward to seeing his friends at the dog park come rain or shine.

Through the connections he built, he was fortunate to meet his love, Ruth Ann. Although together for a short time, it was clear Paul met his other half. Paul was the most selfless, loving, and kind-hearted man who could cure all sorrows. His hugs were the medicine his children often needed to cure any and all ailments. His love, warmth, humour, and energy will be missed every day. His children have not only lost a father but their best friend.

Dad, you may be far away, but we’re only a heartbeat apart. We love you forever and always, you were taken too soon Daddio.

Visitation will be held at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Wednesday July 31 from 6 – 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Kingsway-Lambton United Church, 85 The Kingsway, on Thursday August 1st at 11 am.

Donations may be made in memory to Salvation Army or Ronald McDonald House Charities.

So sorry that Paul left us so early in his retirement.

He and his family deserved more time to embrace the decades of life experience Paul accumulated both personally and professionally.
His legacy will carry on with both family and with all the many colleagues and employees he inspired and influenced.

May you always have fair winds and following seas where ever you are Paul
