DAKIN, Patricia Jean, née Drope, peacefully in her 99th year. Predeceased by her parents Harold and Jean Drope of Regina, Saskatchewan and husband F.W. (Ted) Dakin. Survived by her children Patty (Bob) Simpson and Warren (Jennifer) Dakin and three grandchildren Cole (Sarah), Taylor and Teddy.
Known for her fashion flair and zest for life, Pat had many interests, and especially enjoyed athletic endeavors (swimming, tennis, and yoga, to name only a few). However, her true passion was for the game of golf where she spent countless hours at her “office” on the range. Pat made many lifelong friendships playing at both Hamilton Golf and Country Club and The Toronto Golf Club, where she took many a new member under her wing to make them feel at home (and familiarize them with the rules of golf!). The results of her commitment yielded her six club championships and six runner-up trophies at Hamilton, five holes in one and several tournament wins at Toronto, where she was the Ladies Captain in 1994. Despite this success, Pat always said there is a lot of luck in the game and was very modest about her accomplishments. Playing into her 90’s, she loved nothing more than having a game with her grandchildren.
She was an exceptional person whose enthusiasm for life and a genuine interest in anyone she met will be greatly missed.
The family will be holding a private funeral service and will announce a celebration of life reception at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to The Scott Mission Toronto, an organization Pat supported for many years.
