My thoughts are with as you mourn the loss of your beloved Terry. My condolences to all of Terry’s family. It is so difficult to lose a loved one. I met Terry in Halifax when he last visited some of his Nova Scotia family. He was a brave and strong man. I know he had been ill for a long time but he still exhibited a positive energy and a “ joy of life!”
Rest In Peace Terry now that your suffering has come to an end.

Ralph known as Belve (Long time friend more like a brother)

Terry and I go back a long way. Growing up in Trinidad and having boyhood experiences he got the name ‘Tazi’ short for Tarzan because of his ability to climb trees and swing on limber branches to get mangoes.

I practiced in a steelband in the Dayal’s yard with his brother Rolph known as ‘Ghandi’, and his brother Selywn known as ‘Bit’. Terry even though younger always wanted to around his older brothers.

Terry studied in Ireland and when he moved to Toronto he stayed in my apartment. He loved music and was very talented. He played guitar and bass guitar in the Trinidad Club on Yonge Street where we all hung out on weekends for taste of Trinidad culture.

The Dayal family embraced me as family and Terry always referred to me as his brother. Terry was a great friend and brother. He was kind and would stand by me no matter what. What I would remember most about Terry (Tazi) is his kindness, sincerity, his laugh, readiness for a lime, and ability to recall even childhood stories.

A year ago Terry presented me wth a photo of us playing a sailor mas for carnival over 60 years ago. He was the skinny teenager who always had to be part of the action.

Terry was good at staying in touch and would pick up the phone to call first. He would always have a funny story to tell and would talk on the phone for hours about music or his musical experiences.

Terry’s death was not sudden but death is always sad. His memory will always be with me, and his legacy will continue through his daughters and grandchildren whom he loved dearly; he was an incredibly proud father and grandfather. Rest In Peace my brother.
