In Celebration of

Omelan Drohobyckyj

January 25, 1925 -  September 9, 2023

It is with profound sadness and heartache, we announce the passing of Omelan Drohobyckyj.

Omelan and Anna Drohobycky (predeceased 2013) whom he cherished and loved celebrated their 65 « Blue Sapphire » Wedding Anniversary in June 2013. Omelan is survived by his two loving children Orest and Ira, two grandchildren Adrian (Genevieve) and Alex, as well as his great grandchildren Hadeon and Anichka.

Omelan has family in US and in Ukraine.

He was a Jack of all trades true to the heart, always accepting a challenge and never gave up on anyone or anything his whole life through. He was an Olympian athlete who had great discipline always running first into the winning ribbon and knocking out his opponent with his surprising left hook. He was an awesome special unique remarkable extraordinary strong willed independent 98 and a half year old man who lived his life to the fullest enjoying his life even in his final days doing what he loved: driving, cooking, exercising and playing chess and sudoku!

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, on Monday September 18th, 2023 from 7-9pm. A Funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday September 19th, 2023 at 11am. Interment to follow at Park Lawn Cemetery.

I am very sad with a heavy heart in the passing of my very dear friend Omelan. He was loving, caring, compassionate and a wonderful gentle man. He was like a father to me in my difficult times when I was a new immigrant to this Country.
Omelan took me under his wing and into his home. He was very supportive, his gentle spirit and warm heart was an inspiration and source of strength to me. I will be forever grateful for the precious moments we shared and cherish the memories, the support and his kind words. He will always be in my prayers and may his soul find eternal peace.
