In Celebration of

Olivo Equizi

September 16, 1936 -  December 10, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved uncle, Olivo, at the age of 88. He peacefully departed on December 10, 2024, at Humber River Hospital. Olivo is survived by his sister Adalgisa and his niece and nephew, Assunta and Cesare, along with their spouses, Mike and Fabiola, and their respective children, Julian, Adrian, Elessia and Mara. He was surrounded by the love of his relatives, friends, and all who knew him. His memory will live on in our hearts.

Olivo was lovingly cared for by the team at Weston Gardens Retirement Residence and we extend our gratitude to everyone who supported him during his time there.

Born in L'Aquila, Italy, on September 16, 1936, to Domenico and Domenica Equizi, Olivo was the middle child of three siblings. He had a vibrant, older brother, Giuseppe, and a spirited younger sister, Adalgisa. Olivo took great pride in his service in the Italian military and cherished his love for music, particularly playing the accordion and piano. His passions extended to airplanes, travel, photography, and most of all, spending quality time with his family, especially his niece and nephew.

In his 20s, Olivo left Italy to seek new opportunities, first in Australia, and later in Canada, where he established a fulfilling life with work he enjoyed, gardening, and the company of his loved ones. His zest for life was contagious, as was his affection for the Italian language, food, and his beloved instruments. Olivo was a man of strong principles, loyal and honourable. Those who truly knew him understood that these convictions came from a heart full of care for others.

We will miss you dearly, Zio Olivo, but we take comfort in knowing you are in a better place, reunited with family and friends, resting peacefully in heaven.
