It is with great sadness we announce the death of Olive Agnes James who died on Sunday, November 30th, 2025 at Extendicare Long Term Care Facility in Brampton. She was surrounded by family and friends.

After graduating from the University of Toronto, she devoted her working life to medical research at various institutions including Sunnybrook Hospital and Connaught Labs. During her time of service she achieved numerous successes, some of which were publicly acknowledged and rewarded through a number of awards, citations and various forms of individual recognition. Along with her professional successes she fostered and built strong relationships with colleagues, some of whom, became friends and who from time to time, accompanied her on her world travels and adventures.

Olive’s mom and dad predeceased her as well as her sister Teresa, and brothers Basil, Hubert and Osborne.

Left to mourn are her sisters Ena, Mary, Beryl, Clara, Myrtle and Rosie, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cherished friends.

My heart aches!
Auntie Olive, you gave me so much encouragement growing up.
Listening to you and Mummy (Molly) telling me stories of both your misdemeanours in Grenada brought joy to me. Spending quality time with you in Canada and the UK was always exciting.
You always made sure you wrote to me to make sure my studies were on track. Introducing you to my children was so special. I’m so glad I got to tell you I love you so many times before my life became busy and we lost touch. You will never be forgotten and will always be loved! Myself, Mummy and the rest of the family in the UK will miss you. Rest In Power Auntie O.

Olive and I remained friends and had been in contact until the onset of COVID-19 when I could not reach her by phone or email. I had been worried about her and was shocked to learn her passing away a couple of days ago. I am sad.

Olive, I will miss your wit, wisdom and brilliant mind. But above all, I will miss your kindness and your advice.

May you rest in peace. I am thankful that I had you as a friend.
