Olga passed away peacefully on September 12th, 2025, at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital, at the age of 96, after a short and unexpected illness. Born on June 5th, 1929, in what is now Croatia, Olga was the beloved daughter of Felix and Maria (Lenhoff) Heller. She spent her childhood in Austria before immigrating to Canada in the early 1950s. In 1956, she married the love of her life, Adam Chorowiec, with whom she shared many years of family and community life until his passing in 2002.

Olga was a pillar of the community at Hillside Public School, where she worked as a lunchroom supervisor for over 25 years. Known for her warmth and kindness, she touched the lives of countless children and families. Fluent in more than five languages, she had a unique gift for bringing people together across cultures, forming connections that spanned both generations and oceans.

At home, Olga’s heart was in her kitchen. She was famous for feeding anyone who walked through her door, often insisting visitors take food home so that no one ever left hungry. Holidays were especially cherished times, as she hosted family gatherings for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Her endless Rubbermaid containers of Christmas cookies were a tradition enjoyed long after the holidays had ended.

Olga also had a lifelong love of gardening. In her younger years, she tended an extensive vegetable garden that kept her family well-fed, and as time went on, she devoted herself more to her flowers — especially her treasured roses, which she nurtured with care and pride.

In her younger years, Olga enjoyed traveling to Austria and Germany to visit family, later hosting many relatives on their holidays to Canada. She leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and community that will be remembered for years to come.

Olga will be deeply missed by her children, Edward (Rose) Chorowiec and Irene Edwards; her grandchildren, Bradley Edwards, Shelby Chorowiec, Amanda Edwards, and Ryley Chorowiec; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Carmelina (“Cookie”) for being such a significant part of Olga’s life, especially in her later years. Her companionship, kindness, and support — from keeping Olga company to helping with errands — brought great comfort and were deeply appreciated.
She was predeceased by her husband Adam, and by her siblings Felix, Rudolph, Maria, Anton, Siegfried, Zita, Matilda, Karl, and William.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 23rd, 2025, from 2:00–5:00 p.m. and 7:00–9:00 p.m. at Turner & Porter Neweduk Chapel, 1981 Dundas Street West, Mississauga, Ontario, L5K 1R2.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 24th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Christopher’s Roman Catholic Church, 1171 Clarkson Road North, Mississauga, Ontario, L5J 4N3.

Interment will follow at Springcreek Cemetery, 1390 Clarkson Road North, Mississauga, ON, L5J 2W5.
