In Celebration of

Norman Macleod Kiernander

May 14, 1950 -  August 10, 2023

Norman Macleod Kiernander of Brampton, Ontario, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2023 after a brave battle with cancer at the age of 73. Norm was born in Calcutta, India, moved to England as a child and grew up in Montreal, Quebec.

Norman was born on May 14, 1950 to Norman Fothergill Kiernander and Olga Marie Kiernander.

Norman is survived by his wife Karen, his three children, Kristen (Daniel), Kendra (Ian) and Braeden, his six grandchildren, Raya, Autumn, Grayson, Landon, Christian and Everleigh along with his Golden Retriever, Missy. He is also survived by his siblings June, Joyce, Donna, Rudi and wife Joanne, his brothers-in-law, Kevin and Bill, sisters-in-law, Margaret, Marlene, Eileen (Bea) and Karen along with many nieces and nephews. Norman was predeceased by his parents, his sister Winifred, brother Warren and brothers-in-laws Kenny, Tom and Len.

Norman held many titles in his life, from being a successful real-estate agent and serving as an auxiliary police sergeant for over 30 years, however, his favourite role was being a Father and Grandfather. He loved nothing more than spending time with his children and grandchildren which brought him so much joy. He was always there for them, whether he was providing advice or lending a helping hand. In his spare time, he enjoyed his cottage for many years and vacationing in Muskoka, gardening, volunteering in his community and listening to music.

We will always remember Norm as a man who had a heart as big as the sky and met everyone with love and respect. Norm was a kind and caring soul. May he rest in peace.

Donations in memory of Norman to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

To Norms family & friends,
I’m so sorry to hear of Norms passing. I’m completely shocked.
I was a Peel Regional Police Auxiliary officer with Norm & a member of his Citizenship Court team for almost 20 yrs.
He was proud to be part of the Auxiliary bureau.
Always willing to help out or give advice to new recruits.
He was a staple @ Citizenship Court services welcoming New Canadians to Canada. He has shaken many hands & been in many pictures on those proud days.
He will be missed with many fond memories.
RIP Norm.
Sincerely,
Lisa Howard

My deepest sympathies to Norm’s family. He was my friend and mentor for 23 years in the Peel Regional Auxiliary Police and I will never forget his wisdom, kindness, knowledge and the care he exhibited in anything he organized.

My deepest condolences to Karen and the kids. Norman was one of the kindest person to know. We had great fun growing-up in Montreal. Norm loved his music as he was also a great singer. Will miss you Norm. xox

It was sad to watch my Big brother suffering from the cancer over the last two years. As the baby of the seven siblings I always looked up to Norm. I always wanted to be just like my brother. I will miss him every day till the day he and I meet again. I wish nothing but the best for Karen and the kids. Love to everyone!!! XOXO
