In Celebration of

Noreta Ionie Williams (née Crooks)

November 27, 1943 -  February 1, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Noreta Ionie Williams, a devoted wife, cherished mother, beloved grandmother, and matriarch, who peacefully departed after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma.

Noreta was born November 27, 1943, in May Pen, Clarendon Jamaica to Hepburn Crooks and Christine Crooks (née Grant). She will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Fritz Williams; her children, Gaynel Michelle, Andrew, Jeffrey, Tasha and Warren; and her adored grandchildren, Maya Dean, Daniel, Mark, Jazmyn, and Sandra. She is also survived by her siblings, Yvonne, Berita, Carlton, Delene, Ferrol, and Lorraine, along with a host of extended family members and dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents, and siblings, Dean Margaret, Franklyn, and Gresford.

Noreta’s legacy of kindness, resilience, and unwavering love will live on in the lives she touched. She was a beacon of warmth and generosity, known for her deep devotion to family and community. Whether preparing a lovingly home-cooked meal, skillfully sewing a cherished garment, or sharing stories that reflected her deep love for Jamaica, the land that held her heart, Noreta’s nurturing spirit was ever-present.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, Toronto, ON M6S 1P4 (just east of Jane Street).

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Bonar-Parkdale Presbyterian Church, 250 Dunn Avenue, Toronto, ON M6K 2R9. A viewing will take place at 10:30 AM, prior to the service, as we gather to honour and remember the remarkable woman she was.

Though our beloved Noreta is no longer with us in body, her love, wisdom, and gentle spirit will continue to guide, and inspire us always.
