In Celebration of

Norene Turvolgyi

November 22, 1929 -  June 10, 2022

Passed away peacefully, on Friday, June 10, 2022 in Brussels Ontario, in her 93rd year. She was predeceased by her husband Bert (Bertalan). She leaves her daughter Sarah, her partner Larry Mohring, daughter Sybil and son-in-law Michael Moss and cherished granddaughters Kassandra and Alexis Moss.

She was born in Toronto (East York) on November 22, 1929. She graduated from East York Collegiate in 1948. She continued her studies at the University of Toronto, graduating as a Chemical Engineer, class of 5T3. She pursued a career as a Chemical Engineer first in Montreal with Canadian Industries Limited (CIL) and then after marrying Bert in 1954, in Kingston and Maitland with DuPont Canada. In 1958, anticipating the arrival of their first child she became a full-time homemaker and devoted mother, still using her engineering skills at every opportunity. As her girls grew, Norene pursued her many interests. She was a Girl Guide leader, volunteered to help people learn English, was an enthusiastic member of the Canadian Federation of University Women – CFUW Etobicoke belonging to book clubs, and art appreciation groups and was an active member of St Matthias Anglican Church Etobicoke. She was an avid photographer and a prolific knitter. After she suffered a stroke in 2016, she made the move to Goderich Ontario to be closer to Sarah and Larry. As her health declined, she
needed to move to Huronlea, the long-term care home in Brussels.

A private family burial service has been held.

If desired, donations in memory of Norene to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Our deepest condolences go out to you Sarah, Cybil and both your families.

We feel very privileged that God has sent an angel into our life when we needed help the most. Norene, as well as Bert, were diamonds in the rough. It is quite often we reflect at home on the kindness, warmth and generosity that was extended to us by your mom. It will never be forgotten.
Reka and I, Bogi, often used to say to each other if we had an additional grandma Norene would be it. We are very fortunate to have known her.

We know that Norene is in heaven, along with Bert, watching over all us.

May she rest in peace,

Love
