In Celebration of

Nora Prapavessis

February 28, 1925 -  April 25, 2019

Died peacefully, surrounded by family on April 25, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Health Centre at the age of 94.
Loving mother to Stan (Betsy), Jim (Karen), and Helen (Bob). Fiercely proud and devoted grandmother to Cameron, Lauren, Jeremy, Matthew (Jeanie), Michael, Andrew, William, and Ellie, and great grandmother to Sophia. Predeceased by Paul, her loving husband of 40 years.
Nora emigrated from Greece in her 20s. She and her late husband Paul operated a successful business before retiring happily in Etobicoke more than 40 years ago.
Nora had a long and active life. She was never one to sit still; always cooking for friends and family, walking to shops and gardening, well into her 90s. For Nora, family came first. She cared for all of her grandchildren when they were very young, which brought her a great deal of joy and fulfillment.
The family appreciates her extended family, neighbours, and friends who came to visit her at the hospital, and regularly looked in on her while in her home. Much gratitude to Dr. Kerametlian who made many house calls and became a good friend to Nora. Special thank you to the palliative care team at St. Joseph’s for their kindness and compassion.

In Nora’s memory, the family asks donations be made to St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation, Palliative Care Unit.

My deepest sympathies to Stan, Jim, Helen and the rest of the family. Your mom was a wonderful friend and neighbour for over 25 years and she will be missed by all of us on Wimbleton. She astounded us on a regular basis with her beautiful garden and her meticulous grass. She would spend hours pulling weeds ensuring that her lawn was absolutely pristine. She provided us with wonderful Greek delicacies and it wasn’t unusual for her to run out of dinner plates after delivering treats to each and everyone of her neighbours. We all considered her the Grand Matriarch of Wimbleton. I feel very blessed to have known Nora and I’m grateful for the friendship we had for many years.

My deepest condolences to you and your family. She always had a smile and food for us, when we dropped by to see her two sons (Stan and Jim), and her daughter Helen.
