In Celebration of

Nina Milton

October 5, 1919 -  February 12, 2019

The family of the late Mrs. Nina Milton wish to announce her passing on Tuesday February 12, 2019. Funeral Service will be on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 1 p.m. with visitation one hour prior. Interment Pine Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Salvation Army would be appreciated by Nina.

Nina passed away in her 100th year February 12th, 2019 in Mississauga Ontario. She was born in 1919 in Lodz, Poland. Married February 15th, 1942 to Thomas Milton (predeceased). They raised three daughters. Nina was very close to all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She cared for and always gave the gift of time to her Family.

After retiring from Ukrainska Kynha, the store where she worked for over 35 years, she enjoyed many new activities. She learned to golf, and won many trophies playing ten pin bowling. Nina was an avid Bingo, Bid Euchre and Bridge player and happily won many of the weekly prize pots!

She will be remembered for her delicious vareniki (perogies) which she lovingly made by hand.
We wish to thank Beechwood Court’s staff and Personal Service Workers, the CCAC staff, and the Palliative Care Nurses and SRT specialized care workers. We are very grateful for their positive energy and caring support of Nina. A very special thanks to Dr. Saldanha for his many years of Geriatric care and Palliative counsel in very difficult times. Nina loved his sense of humour.

Nina is survived by her three daughters, Eugenia Kyranis (Michael), Irene Gillette (Hank), and Victoria Grant (John). She will be remembered fondly by her seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Irene, Peter, Christina, Anna Maria, David and Jacqueline, and four great grandchildren Zoe, Melina, Cate, and Spiro.

Nina and I have had many hours of conversation in the years I knew her. I know the many details of her remarkable life, and I have often said that her memories should be archived as part of the Canadian story. I will remember her strength, the sharpness of her mind, and her love of her family, I also would like to mention a very special gift she had, ....she could pack a suitcase like no one I have ever seen!
My sincere condolences to all her family,
Sherril

This is a lovely tribute to my grandmother. I fondly remember her visits to our home every summer in Ohio as a child. She played in the backyard with us, took us swimming, taught my brother and I how to play cards (and eventually poker!) made homemade pizza and her famous raspberry ice cream floats. God Bless you Granny!

Mrs. Milton was a very special person. Having known her since Vicky and I met in 1973, I was privileged to see her on many of their family occasions. I was always impressed by her wit, her kindness and her straightforwardness. She was interested in so many things and had such a sharp mind. She worked so hard for her family, and loved them all so much. I was very fortunate to share in a part of that.
