It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nicola (Nick) Vito Nardulli who passed away on February 16, 2025 11:45pm at the age of 83 from aspiration pneumonia after five weeks at Mount Sinai Hospital with no clear diagnosis.
Nicola was born on June 17, 1941 in Aquaviva delle Fonti, province of Bari, Italy, son to the late Antonio and Maria Nardulli (Lopane). He passed away peacefully leaving behind his beloved wife of 63 years, Tina (Gasparro), children, Mirella (Paul), Tony (Zelia), his grandchildren Allegra, Serena, Dante, Isabella, Andrew, and his sister Antonella (Tony).
Nick was a larger than life personality. Always passionate about life, work, family, friendships, and especially food. He was a charismatic person who loved to philosophize and was a teacher of life lessons with his children and grandchildren.
Nicola was a successful self-made businessman. He had the courage to cross the ocean in 1963 to create a life in Canada with his wife Tina and together they achieved the Canadian Dream. Though he left his hometown of Aquaviva delle Fonti he always remained Italian in his character and values. These were expressed through his tireless work ethic, passion, courteous manner, and his ability to feel at ease with anyone.
His personal motto was “work hard and play hard.” When he wasn’t up at 4:00 in the morning to go to the Ontario Food Terminal to purchase fruit and vegetables for his grocery store, he was planning a trip to Egypt or riding a camel. His adventurous spirit took him from the heat of Egypt to the rainforest of Brazil to the beaches of the Dominican
After owning a grocery business for 10 years, it was always his dream to move to California, the sunshine state so he moved to raise his family in 1976 to the USA for close to 2 years before returning back to Toronto to raise his children.
After completing another successful 10 years in the textile business Nick and Tina ventured in the real estate market where they later retired.
Nick will be greatly missed by family and friends. Family was everything to Nick and was proud to have left a legacy of well mannered, educated, beautiful and intelligent grandchildren.
Rest in peace Nicola
