In Celebration of

Nellie Helen Zeman

August 7, 1938 -  March 11, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nellie Helen Zeman on March 11, 2025 at Amica Retirement Home, at the age of 86. Beloved wife of the late John Zeman. Loving mother of Susan Melchior and her husband Paul, Christine Speagle and her husband Mike, and Diane Mangan and her partner Luis. Cherished grandmother to her 6 grandchildren: Bryan, Kevin, Jessica, Matthew, Melissa, and Michael. Loving sister to the late Mary Kadnar. Nellie was born in Timmins, Ontario on August 7, 1938, but lived most of her life in Toronto, Etobicoke, and Mississauga. Nellie loved to travel and visited many countries with John and later on with her friends. After she retired as a medical secretary, she was busy with many activities, associations, and attending her grandkids’ memorable events. The family would like to thank all those who supported and visited Nellie during her illness.

Family and friends may visit at Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke, on Monday, March 17, 2025 from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. and on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. in the Butler Chapel. Interment at Sanctuary Park Cemetery. If desired, donations can be made to The PSP Society of Canada or to a charity of your choice.

Nellie was a second mom to so many of us in the neighbourhood. We grew up feeling loved and welcomed in her home. Our deepest condolences to “the girls” and their families.

Sue and Paul, I'm so sorry for your family's loss. It's so lovely that she got to watch the boys grow to independent men and special for them to have had so many years of Nana love and attention. Your memories will confort you.

Susan, Christine and Diane,
Please accept our heartfelt condolences in regards to the loss of your mom, Nellie. We have many fond memories of you all, your mom included, from your childhood as Brownies, Guides & classmates of Joyce's through to adulthood. Parent teacher associations including"MOB" enabled our mum, Sylvia, to know your mom better. I shall always remember her laughing and smiling, although I'm quite sure those "MOB"parent group meetings with Mr. Wood caused some angst many occasions. We hope that fond memories of happy times with both your mom and dad bring you comfort in the days, months and years to come.
