Peacefully, after a short stay in Hospice Care, Neil Francis Sweeney passed away on Friday, February 21st, at the age of 90. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rita (Nolan) and his three sons: Stephen (Jayna), Kevin, and Alan.

Neil was born in county Mayo, Ireland on May 12th, 1934. He immigrated to Canada in 1968 and soon settled in Toronto, where he met Rita. They married in 1973. Neil was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Christopher’s Parish in Clarkson. He attended daily mass until his health no longer allowed him. Always one to offer a neighbour a helping hand in the form of a ride to an appointment or a household repair, the family is grateful to those who offered kindness and support as his health declined.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to Ian Anderson House where he received wonderful care during his final few days.
