Nancy passed away peacefully with the love of her life Leon holding her hand, and her sister Kathy close by her side.

Nancy was born, the second of three girls, to Adam and Maria Frost, recently-arrived immigrants to Canada. Nancy always had a unique and special bond with her Dad. Her engaging and heartfelt smile brought forth joy and light. She traveled and worked in Europe after high school then moved to Victoria, BC. There she made life-long friends, among them Gwyneth Koenig and Nancy Pearson, and became friends with Joseph Slythe, a relief lighthouse keeper and former antiques dealer, who lived in a stately old home in Victoria.She revelled in house sitting while he was away.

Nancy laughingly said about the Seventies in Victoria that she never met a protest march she wouldn’t join. She enjoyed her studies as a mature student at the University of Victoria, in Early Childhood Education, and was proud of her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Nancy had always regretted that she hadn’t earned her high school diploma, but she was very proud last year, when, to her great delight and amusement, she discovered an un-opened envelope at Maria’s home with her high-school graduation certificate inside.

Eventually home and family called and Nancy returned to Ontario. She began working for the TSSA, the Technical Standards and Safety Authority, where she met Leon, the love and inspiration of her life. Her marriage meant the world to Nancy. Christmas was always a magical time for her, and on Christmas Eve, 1997, Leon and Nancy were united forever in matrimony. Together they built a shared life that was deep, meaningful and caring, adventurous, and fun.

Nancy travelled the world. After high school she discovered Europe and family in Germany. With her mother she shared travels in Canada, Hawaii, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Venezuela. She travelled to the former Soviet Union, and to Hungary to visit her parent’s birthplace. She and Leon treasured a good road trip, often spontaneous, to Gettysburg, Boston, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Philadelphia, among others, and New Orleans, which had a special place in her heart. They made the exciting trek to Washington DC to witness history in the making, at Barack Obama’s first inauguration. As a couple they enjoyed the quietness of Niagara-on-the-Lake during winter and summer excursions. Their trips to Huntsville and Algonquin Park ignited their love of Northern Ontario. All were memorable and regenerating trips.

Nancy was also a creative soul, a fine and prolific, if unpublished, writer of novels, and a ferocious and talented quilter. She created a haven and refuge for Leon at home, filled with love, welcome, laughter, and a lot of fine fine things to eat.

The last few years have brought their challenges which they met with courage, determination and an optimism that was inspiring to all that witnessed it.
