In Celebration of

Milan Viktor "Krijo" Krijan

December 1, 1942 -  October 13, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved 'Krijo', Milan Krijan, on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 in Mississauga, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Beloved husband of Katica, loving father of Marica, Ana, Antonia, Snježana and Svjetlana, and adoring grandfather of Marko. Milan will be lovingly missed by all of his extended family, his brothers- and sisters-in law, nieces, nephews and cousins, and his many friends in the Croatian and Canadian communities.

In life, Milan was a man of faith who loved his Croatian homeland and acted as an anchor of support for his family, friends and people in need. He was a man known for his extreme passion, relentless drive and selfless support of his Croatian community – a true pillar, one of a kind and a community ‘legend’ in the Greater Toronto area. All who knew him, were drawn in by his energy, jokester character and, above all, his big heart. He raised a family, was an industrious worker and was a devoted builder of community, church and his 'Toronto Croatia' soccer team in Southern Ontario. Many knew him as the long-time manager of the 'Croatian Park' in Streetsville and active member of Our Lady Queen of Croatia parish.

Throughout his life, Milan was generous with his time, talent and energy, organizing many charitable events in the community, be they cultural, religious or sports; he was always willing to give of himself to help those less fortunate. In 1991, he helped found ‘Fond Slavonija’ to support both local charities in Canada as well as those in Croatia, particularly following the homeland war from 1991. In recognition of his charitable work and contributions to Canada, he was awarded the Diamond Jubilee Medal by the Governor General of Canada.

Visitation services will be held at the Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St. in Mississauga, on Saturday and Sunday October 16 (3pm to 7pm) and 17 (2:30pm to 7:30pm). A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Croatia Church, 7 Croatia St. in Toronto, on Monday October 18. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, attendance is limited but open to all.
Please click the 'register' button below to register for the visitation and Mass.

Interment at Assumption Cemetery. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted for various local and Croatian charitable organizations close to Milan’s heart.
