It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Mijo “Mike” Kolobaric on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at the age of 84.

Beloved and caring husband of Bosiljka for 59 years, devoted father to Zvonko “William” (Julie) and Steve, loving brother to Kata, Paul and Martin. Adoring grandfather to Emily Stewart, Katarina and Christian. Predeceased by his brother Ante, sisters Marcia and Amalija, parents Stipo and Marija and grandson James Stewart.

Mijo will forever be remembered by his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who cherished his loving heart and smiling face.

Mijo’s passion of football led him to establish the Mississauga Croatian Soccer Club with fellow Croatians John Biondich, Mile Uremovic and Hinko Sifer so that their sons could enjoy the sport together and that future generations would experience and enjoy the same passion of the sport as they did. Mijo was extremely proud to see subsequent generations continue to grow the Club and maintain the proud Croatian love of football.

After helping to establish the Mississauga Croatian Soccer Club, his love of football led him to help establish and run the National Soccer League Minor Division with Ken Dawson, where it became one of the premier football leagues helping to produce many players who went on to play with the Provincial and Canadian teams throughout the years.
