In Celebration of

Mieczyslaw(Mitch) Piekut

February 2, 1950 -  June 10, 2023

Mitch passed away peacefully at the age of 73 on the evening of June 10, 2023 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He leaves behind his wife of 47 years Helen Piekut, as well as his four children: Monica, Daniel (Karine), Kalia (Mikey) and Simon (Adela). Mitch was an adoring Dziadzia (grandfather) of Samantha and Rebecca Ho, as well as Emilia and Logan Piekut. Cherished brother of his younger sister Grace Roosman and older brother Lucien Piekut.

Mitch was born in Poland and came to Canada when he was 16 years old where his family first moved to Roncesvalles, Toronto. He worked for 40+ years at Bell Canada as a technician.

Mitch’s love for his family was always present in his cooking. Hosting Sunday dinners so he could bring his children and their growing families together to share a special meal. His favourite place was the family cottage where he could relax and enjoy quality time with his children.

An exceptional handyman/woodworker who always had “a tool for that”. He left his children and grandchildren hand made Muskoka chairs that will forever embody his laid back personality. An avid sports fan who enjoyed ending the day watching a hockey or baseball game.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses that cared for him throughout his battle with cancer. A special thank you to the members of the intensive care unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

He will be missed by all who knew him, and will be forever in our hearts.

Mitch was a genuine, warm and caring soul who welcomed me into his home and family. Will miss him and know the world is a bit darker without his light. Thinking of his family as they grieve this wonderful man, father & grandfather! Sending my condolences and may he rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to the entire Piekut family.
I have extremely fond memories of spending time at the Piekut home growing up. He always greeted the invasion of kids / teenagers with a smile and a joke.
Sending my love to the whole family. ❤
