In Celebration of

Mieczyslaw "Mietek, Mike" Pacholek

January 5, 1937 -  February 4, 2021

On the afternoon of February 4th, 2021, Mieczyslaw, “Mietek” “Mike” Pacholek passed away at the age of 84 at Trillium Hospital in Mississauga, ON, from complications due to Covid 19 while fighting lung cancer.

Born in Tyśmienica, Poland, he and his family survived the horrors of World War II and eventually moved west to Canada. He held numerous positions, ending his career as Wing Technician for McDonnell Douglas before retiring in the GTA. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Urszula. He is survived by his loving wife of over 45 years, Mira and his children: John, Mike and his wife Rita, Iwona and Adam. He is also survived by grandchildren Ronnie, Kamila, Raven, Rowan and Michael.

A devout Catholic, he was a parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish in Mississauga. He spent his time in retirement playing chess, tinkering with all things electrical to the point of obsession, but could always be counted on to make one laugh or be a shoulder to cry on. He will be sorely missed by all those whose lives he touched.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Po południu 4 lutego 2021 roku Mieczysław, "Mietek" "Mike" Pacholek zmarł w wieku 84 lat w szpitalu Trillium w Mississauga, ON, z powodu powikłań spowodowanych covid 19 podczas walki z rakiem płuc.

Poprzedziła go jego pierwsza żona, Urszula.

We will miss you dad, and hope that you truly are in a better place. Whatever comes, I will use the lessons you gave me in life to guide my path and to help those who you loved and who loved you too.

While he wasn't related to me by blood, he treated me like I was one of his own. He loved me and while we couldn't speak to one another all that well due to a language barrier, he tried his best to show me that he cared. I don't remember some kind of event that happened which made me think that would ruin many relationships, it didn't with him. He still loved me and showed me how a grandfather should be. I love and miss my dziadek.

Mike was always loving and kind. He was a joy to be around and truly loved his grandson to distraction. I will miss his twinkling eyes even while he "pretended" not to get the joke. He will be sorely missed.

Mike was a genuinely nice and caring person. He welcomed my family and I in to his home and I appreciated that he became the grandfather my children never had. I was honored to have known him and he will be missed.
