It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the sudden passing of Mieczysław “Mike” Magda on Monday, January 8, 2024, at the age of 76.
Born on January 2, 1948, in Cmolas, Poland, Mike was the oldest of seven siblings. He came to Canada with his family when he was eighteen years old, and after a short time in Montreal, moved to the Roncesvalles neighbourhood in Toronto, where he would live and raise his family for the rest of his life. He was well-remembered as a kind, determined and soft-tempered man, who was dedicated to his family and who always had an opinion on current events.
He is predeceased by his parents Michal and Zofia (née Guzda), his sister-in-law Susan, and his niece and goddaughter, Megan Magda.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of forty-six years, Helena, his children David and Nicole (Nick), his beloved granddaughter Chiara, and his siblings Mary (Ken), Edward (Ewa), Henry, Marian (Janina), Ted (Bernadette) and Elizabeth (Rick). He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews, his extended family, and friends.
Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Sunday, January 14, from 2-6 p.m. Rosary prayers 4 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Casimir Catholic Church, 156 Roncesvalles Ave., Toronto, on Monday, January 15, 2024 at 10 a.m. Interment Sanctuary Park Cemetery.
