In Celebration of

Michael Mei-Tak Sze

September 16, 1952 -  February 10, 2023

With great sadness, the family of Michael Mei-Tak Sze, Mississauga, ON, announce his passing at the age of 70, the night of Friday February 10, 2023 at Credit Valley Hospital.

Michael will be lovingly remembered by his wife Karen Sze (nee Lum), sons Andrew Sze, Justin Sze and his wife Rebecca and son Everett Sze, Christopher Sze and partner Stephanie Round, sister Teresa Lowe and husband Bill, the Lum family, and his nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Maria Sze, and sister Gemma Yu.

Michael was born in Shanghai, China on September 16, 1952. He immigrated as a teenager to Vancouver, Canada with his family. Michael spent most of his life in the restaurant business where he met his wife Karen. Michael and Karen married in 1981 and moved to Toronto, Canada to start their family. Michael was a loving father and worked hard to support his family. Despite suffering a stroke in his early 40’s, Michael, together with his wife, continued to teach his sons how to work hard, be happy, and most importantly, be good people. He himself would consistently display these qualities until his passing.

The family would like to express warm thanks to the staff at Credit Valley Hospital for their care and compassion.

For those who wish, the family has asked for donations to be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation in lieu of flowers.

Karen and family, we are so sad to lose such a wonderful man so early in life. Michael was the best yeye for our mutual grandson, Everett.

I remember as a child our families used to have many gatherings throughout the years and you have always been a caring and wonderful uncle to me. So many memories come to mind when I think of you, the genuine care you showed me whenever we saw each other was a warmth that I hold dear to my heart. Dear Uncle Mike, we will all miss you dearly, until we meet again.

Uncle Michael was a great man, always generous and happy. Even with his health he makes the best of things and doesn't let it hold him back

I feel very fortunate to have known him and know that he is watching over our families from above.

Rest in Peace
