In Celebration of

Michael John Greene

July 19, 1944 -  January 20, 2019

Peacefully, on Sunday, January 20, 2019, at Toronto Grace Hospital, at the age of 74. Beloved husband and soulmate of Elizabeth (nee Barrett). Predeceased by his sister Enid Willmott. Michael will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, and extended family overseas and in Canada. Mike came to Canada from England, in 1970, to work as a chartered accountant with Clarkson Gordon. He enjoyed a career in senior executive roles in various companies, retiring from Federal Industries in 1996. Mike remained actively engaged in a number of business pursuits until 2017.

If desired, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Elizabeth,

We offer our deep and sincere sympathy. You have been wonderfully loving and supportive through all the challenges of the past few months. And that will have meant everything for Mike.

Perhaps we can say how much we respected Mike's entrepreneurship. I (Peter) worked briefly with him in the late 1990s, and valued both his instinct for innovation and his unfailing resilience. Very unusually, Mike combined an accountant's rationality and an innovator's relentless quest for the next business frontier.

May he rest in peace.

Sincerely

Sally and Peter (Smith)

My condolences to Elizabeth. Mike and I worked together many years ago.
I remember him as a thoroughly professional, intelligent CA with a strong work ethic.
I enjoyed working with him at a personal and professional level.

I have many fond memories of the time I spent working and traveling with Mike during our time together with Russel Metals/Federal Industries. If it was not for Mike's insight and acumen, I am not sure whether Russel would be the company it is today. This is ancient history but it is something I will never forget. Our prayers are with the family.
