The Positive Power Train arrived at its destination.
On October 31st, after a 3 and a half year battle with Pancreatic Cancer, Michael gained his purple wings. He passed peacefully at the Dorothy Ley Hospice surrounded by his wife and daughter.
Michael was an inspiration to all who knew him. His Positive Power Train provided comfort and encouragement for everyone who shared in his journey. He faced these challenges with an everlasting sense of humour and hope.
Michael is survived by his loving wife Ping (Alice) and daughter Cecilia. He also leaves behind his godsons Liam and Hardy. Michael moved to Canada with his parents Friedrich and Margarete in 1982 and will be joining them at the Park Lawn Cemetery.
He was a proud alumnus of the University of Toronto where his time at Middle House - Victoria College lead to many lifelong friendships. He had a successful career in I.T. at CIBC and became an avid fisherman. However, his favourite activity by far was spending time with his wife and daughter, travelling the globe together. Even during his battle with cancer, he managed several trips to Asia and Europe including a trip to the FIFA Womens’ World Cup of Soccer in France.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the future, at a yet to be determined date, once the COVID restrictions have lifted.
Please note that it was Michael’s wish that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a trust fund for his young daughter Cecilia or the Canadian Cancer Society.
