In Celebration of

Mervyn Edward Johnston

April 9, 1949 -  April 18, 2024

In loving memory of Mervyn Edward Johnston, born on April 9th, 1949, and departed from this world on April 18th, 2024. Mervyn's life was a testament to kindness and selflessness, as he dedicated himself to helping others and finding joy in everyday moments.

He was preceded in death by his father Harold, mother Phyllis, and sister Brenda, but leaves behind a legacy of compassion and wisdom that will be cherished by his brother Rick, sister-in-law Frances, and nieces Amanda, Kasia, and Melanie.

A private family celebration of Mervyn's life will take place in the summer of 2024, honoring his belief that "Life’s purpose is to enjoy each day in some way," and his guiding principle that "Decisions are important - others should benefit from them, it shouldn’t be just about yourself."

May Mervyn rest in peace, knowing that his legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to inspire those he touched throughout his life.

If you wish to, donations can be made to St Joseph’s Hospital in honour of Mervyn, as a gesture of appreciation for the care he received there.

For as long as we have known Rick, we have also experienced the pleasure of
Merv's company. Merv was always kind and pleasant. He never had a bad word against anyone. He was especially friendly and a great story teller. We offer our
condolences to the Johnston family. Please know that Merv will be both missed and
remembered by everyone who knew him.

We always looked forward to chatting with Merv at Johnston's family events. He was always so very proud of his family and especially his 3 beautiful nieces. A simple, what have you been up to, resulted in stories that made us smile. He was a kind loving man and will be missed.
Joanne and always... Blair.

I was so very sorry to hear of Merv's passing. I went to library school with Merv. Although we had not seen each other in a long time, we always exchanged Christmas cards for over 40 years.
Merv was a kind and lovely man.
With heartfelt condolences.
