As boys we (and our mum, Julie) were visitors to Melka & Mike’s home. She was indefatigable! With her boundless energy and enthusiasm it seemed to us that her greatest wish was for everyone to enjoy life — and music, particularly — as much as she did. We remember her with great fondness — for the interest she took and for opening her home to us. Truly, it was impossible not to feel more cheerful around her.
Our condolences and deepest sympathies to Orest, Ola and the family.
Orest,
I only have very fond memories of your ma entertaining everyone with her harmonican and sqeeze box muic, light humour and joie de vivre. Whether at her home, our house or sharing picnics in the countryside - she had a spark that couldn't be put out and a twinkle in her eye that I'll never forget - one in a billion she was!
xoxoxo to your entire rrodyna,
tapac
I remember Melka from shortly after she arrived in Canada. She and my mother, Mary (Chepa nee Pyrcz), were not just family but close friends. I have fond memories of Melka’s wedding. Mike obviously adored her.
Melka loved music. She almost always had her harmonica with her. My most vivid memories of her are her leading the group and encouraging everyone to join in and have a good time.
My deepest condolences to Orest and Ola and family.
We will not remember her for the illness that she lived with till dying days but the beauty and happiness
