In Celebration of

Maureen Prisciak

June 16, 1929 -  May 10, 2021

Mrs. Mary Josephine “Maureen” Prisciak, 91, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2021 in Toronto, Ontario.

Maureen was born in The Rower, County Kilkenny, Ireland to Thomas and Elizabeth Burke on June 16, 1929. She immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1949 to be a companion to her aunt. While working for Simpsons-Sears Catalogue Store she met Gustav Prisciak. Wondering where Maureen went at lunch on Wednesdays, a smitten Gus Prisciak followed her to St. Patrick’s Church, where she had been attending devotions to Our Mother of Perpetual Help. They soon began making the trip together and from their shared faith, love bloomed. They were married on June 15, 1953, in St. Helen’s Parish.

Maureen was a loving and dedicated wife and mother, as well as a caring and thoughtful friend having always been involved in the church, and wider community where she lived. She made lasting friendships, which endured for decades unhindered by time or distance, and her absence will be felt deeply.

Maureen is preceded in death by her brothers Liam Burke, Martin Burke, and Sean Burke, as well as her beloved Gus. She is survived by her sister Breda and her brother Tom (Mary); her devoted children Patricia (Paul), Maria, Cyril (Theresa), Francis, Damian (Janette), Augustine (Jennifer); her loving grandchildren Michael (Tamara), Elisabeth (David), David (Sherry), Geoffrey (Carissa), Jennifer, Erin (Karan), Robynne (Oliver), Dustin, Brandon (Jill), Danielle (Liam), Nicole (Kody), Tyler (Skylar), Zachary (Chelsea), and Madison; as well as her great-grandchildren Noah, Gwendolyn, Amelia, Connor, Emma, James, and Harold.

In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations may be made to CNIB in Maureen’s honour (https://cnib.donorportal.ca/).

The service is restricted to close family; however, it will be streamed live on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 11:00am. For an invitation to the live stream, please contact a member of the family.
