Masayo passed away peacefully at the Chartwell Trilogy Nursing home in Scarborough, where she had lived for the past 11 years. She was 98 years old.
Beloved wife of the late Richard Masaji Abe, loving mother to Howard (Susan) and Leslie (Williams). Grandmother to Patrick, Julia and Celene.
Predeceased by her parents Hisakichi and Tei Suyama, and siblings Kunio, Masahiro, Kakuichiro, Wakiko and Juneko. She is survived by her brothers Tokugi and Eiji and her sisters Meiko and Yoshimi.
From her birth in Cumberland BC on May 9th, 1924, through her long life she had held various jobs from working overseas in Japan for the US Army, she was a valued nanny working for a family in Toronto and ended her work experience at Canada Post.
Her hobbies included sewing, crochet and knitting
Masayo had led a full life in spite of her long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease and will be dearly missed by friends and family.
A private family service has taken place. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made out to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
