In Celebration of

Mary Tootill

October 6, 1939 -  March 1, 2024

On March 1, 2024, Maura (Mary) Tootill (nee O'Connell) got her wings and went to walk with the angels, at the age of 84. Mary cared deeply for her family and friends. She had a kind, caring disposition and was committed to volunteer service in the community. She is survived by her son, Michael (Rhonda); grandchildren, Paige and Matthew; sisters, Angela and Claire; and other relatives. Mary will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A Private Funeral Service will be held for family and friends at Our Lady of Peace Parish, 3914 Bloor Street West, on April 11, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. Viewing will precede the Funeral Service at Turner & Porter – Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, on April 11, 2024, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Lady of Peace Parish.

It was a pleasure to have met and volunteered together with Maura at the Daughters of Isabella group. Maura was always ready to laugh and smile. She was an avid knitter and knitted up a storm of beautiful hats (which were donated to the Good Shepherd).
Maura loved her garden and we spent time viewing the Monarch butterflies which were attracted to a Butterfly bush in her backyard.
Such a wonderful person that I really wanted to join her on a trip to Ireland and visit Limerick. Loved the Irish accent and her kind ways. A strong faith in church and its people.
When COVID hit in 2020, she wanted to go back into Nursing in order to help out in the hospital. Great memories of a great person, I treasure our friendship.
My sincere sympathies to Michael (Rhonda) and to her sisters Angela and Claire. She always spoke of her family with love and admiration.
I will miss you dear friend.

To know her was to love her. To love her was a joy and a privilege. Now she is in the Hollow of His Hand. Toot, enjoy your glory!
