In Celebration of
Mary Rose Wos
December 17, 1929 -
June 6, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mary Rose Wos announce her passing on Monday, June 6, 2022 at the age of 92. Mom took comfort in always being surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Wincenty Wos for over 67 years. She will be missed dearly by her daughter Lillian Wos-Turchyn (Zane), and son Adam Wos (Michelle Smele). She was a cherished “Gaga” to her granddaughters Alyshia, Samantha, Tiffany, Genevieve, and Charlotte.
Mary was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on December 17, 1929 to Joseph Ravlich and Lukra (Aracic) Ravlich, who immigrated from Croatia.
She was proud of her Croatian heritage and visited the birth places of her parents in Brac and Slivno, Croatia. Mary was the fourth girl of the five Ravlich girls. Predeceased by her sisters Angela, Josephine, Verginia and Lily, mom is now happily reunited with her sister's enjoying coffee and conversation.
Mom moved to Toronto in her twenties where she met her loving husband, Wincenty Wos. There they began their lives together on Grenadier Road. Mom worked for the Royal Bank of Canada, at the Data Centre and the branch on Queen and Roncesvalles Ave. where she retired.
When she was young, she enjoyed playing short-stop which led to her lifelong love of baseball and the Toronto Blue Jays. Both mom and dad enjoyed watching the Leafs play and always tuned in despite the outcome. Her mischievous and strong-willed personality always ensured it had to be her way. She had a somewhat naughty but spicy sense of humour that was classic Gaga. She loved old movies and actresses and was quite a glamor girl herself. She worked hard, loved her children but when her granddaughters came along it was a game changer. She was devoted to them and loved them all dearly. She was a devoted wife, great mom and an even greater Gaga! We will miss you tremendously.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Wawel Villa, to Dr. Malicki, to the nursing staff, PSW’s and support staff workers who contributed to her outstanding care over the last three years. Thank you for your kindness and compassion. We appreciate all of you.
