In Celebration of

Mary Margaret Anne Anthony

July 2, 1932 -  April 28, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Margaret Anne Anthony (nee Berbee) from pneumonia. Mary passed away on April 28, 2020 at age 87 at the Harold and Grace Baker Centre, Long Term Care Home in Toronto, Ontario.
Mary was born in Brampton, Ontario, on July 2, 1932, the youngest daughter of Mary Malone and Pierre Andre Berbee. She grew up on a small farm on the 3rd line west of Brampton and attended a one-room grade school, S.S. No. 5 Chinguacousy, and Brampton High School.
Mary first met William Anthony, a friend of her oldest brother, John, when she was a young girl of 12 and William had enlisted in the Air Force. Mary worked for Bell Canada in Toronto and Montreal before marrying William in 1956. Once married, they settled in London, Ontario, to raise their family. They moved to Toronto in 1977 where they spent the next 43 years together. Mary and William celebrated Valentines 2020 by renewing their 65th engagement anniversary.
Mary was predeceased by her brothers, John and Peter Berbee, and sisters, Rita Berbee and Muriel ‘Gay’ Mathews. She is survived by her beloved husband, William; daughters Liz (Herb Hoellstern) and Linda (Mark Essak ); sons Bill (Dina) and John (Alaine); grandchildren Brian (Karen), Sarah (Sandro), Katie (Sebastian), Laura, Jasmine (Alex), and David; and great-grandson, Theo.
Mary was loved and gave love back. She was a terrific mom and a wonderful wife.
There will be no service at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Words of condolences may be left at turnerporter.ca. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Mary’s name to the Alzheimer Society of Canada (alzheimer.ca)
