We have been blessed to have shared the company of a great lady such as Mary. She was loved by all. Peace and Love to her soul and to her family.
Jen,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. We are all thinking of you.
Cam Lindsay
She walked me with my name.
Jennie, I've been overcome with grief and sadness since the phone call and the loss of her seems to get bigger each day. She was my ESL teacher for only one year, but that year mattered the most because I was so vulnerable. Thrown into a new world at the age of 10, painfully shy and without a word of English on my tongue, I instantly hated my 'weird' sounding name. She was the first to tell me it sounded beautiful. She always had my back and everything I did in her eyes were wonderful and 'so talented'.
She made little insignificant me feel so big, valued and special. She was all of my uncles, aunts and grandparents we left behind all rolled into one. She knew that confidence, curiosity and kindness fueled learning and integration. She opened her home and introduced me to lasagna and tacos. Even had her neighbours open their homes to me and I got to swim for the first time in a private pool. My very own first record was from her (you). Remember she asked you if there was one you didn't listen to much anymore? - the ''Full Tilt' album? Thank you!!. I'm so glad my children Cassel and Yenna got to meet her. They always loved visiting and chatting with her. Usually didn't want to leave her 'really cool pad'. And even in my middle age, with kids-in-tow, I always left her house feeling like a 'brilliant' student again...looking forward to our next visit to talk more movies, books, arts. She was the last person to call me by my real name and I just keep hearing her voice, 'Oh Hi IL-JEE...' I'm so grateful to have had her in my life. I will never forget her heart and voice.
Hi Jenny;
I miss your Mom! I am so very sorry that I'm remiss in sending my condolences. So many wonderful visits around Christmas and Studio Tours. Your Mom was always so inquisitive and non-judgemental, so gracious and warm. I miss her very much. Her passion for teaching and children's intellectual development will be sorely missed but I know she has passed on that passion to you! Her legacy lives on. I am looking forward to giving you a big hug next time we see each other! Sending you love and strength with this little message. Love, Rebecca
